Handmade Chiang Mai | Studio Naenna : a producer of handmade chiangmai

In 1988 art historian Patricia Cheesman was inspired to revitalize the Thai art of handmade complex weaving and intricate pattern-making to create unique textiles. The results are textiles made from the finest natural silks and cotton with a focus on the weft ikat technique. Training young weavers and supporting master weavers has brought a sense of community while preserving 2000 year-old traditions and Fair Trade ethics. Patricia works closely with master weaver Viloy Nanthapoom to create unique textiles for fashion and wall art, while daughter Lamorna designs contemporary clothing and manages Studio Neanna representing the Weavers For the Environment. Using a combination of natural and non-carcinogenic dyes, Studio Naenna also emphasizes the use of indigo as a vibrant blue, natural dye.
